The Roundwood Flock was established in 1962 when my late husband Tom, bought two aged ewes from Mrs. Sean T O’Kelly, they produced four lambs, 3 ewe lambs and 1 ram lamb. The first ram that we bred from was bought from Herbert Stanley. We then joined The Suffolk Society and this opened new avenues of breeding and lifelong friendships for us. Our interest in the breed and the Suffolk Society grew and from that I took to going to shows and proved quite successful.

In 1972 at the Spring Show in the RDS. I won two cups for the Champion Suffolk Ram and the Reserve Champion Ram Lamb. I travelled all over Ireland attending shows with winners in Balmoral, Cork, Kilkenny, Enniscorthy, Athlone, Mayo, Cavan, Oldcastle, Tullow, Tinahealy and many others.

Later I was appointed a judge by the Suffolk Society and judged in Roundwood and elsewhere a number times when there would have been sheep sales. I also have judged all mixed bred sheep classes at various shows nationally.

It is a great honour for me to be nominated for this achievement and I would like to thank the South of Ireland Branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society for the recognition.
